The long-anticipated "Great Wealth Transfer" from Baby Boomers to younger generations may be significantly smaller than expected due to rising healthcare costs, longer lifespans, and ballooning assisted living expenses.

While Boomers have amassed historic levels of wealth, many are now "giving while living" to help children with immediate needs like housing or are choosing to spend their assets on personal travel and experiences. 

Ultimately, experts warn that the combination of these draining factors and potential tax burdens could mean that much of the projected $84 trillion windfall is absorbed before it ever reaches heirs.
