The Corporation for Long-Term Care Certification, Inc. (CLTCC) has created the long-term care insurance industry's only third party professional designation, "Certified in Long-Term Care" (CLTC). The quality of the program is evidenced in the granting of continuing education credits by all states.

The CLTC course is owned independently by the CLTC Board of Standards, Inc. It was written in 1999 by Attorney Harley Gordon, a founding member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, in conjunction with respected professionals in the field of aging. The course is available by attending a two day Master Class or through a Correspondence Course. Both cover the same material and require successful passing of a proctored exam. CLTCC recommends that students not only review the course material prior to taking a Master Class, but also complete several months of study before scheduling the exam. Successful passing of a proctored exam is required in order to qualify for certification.

The CLTC course reflects the nature of long-term care which is a continuum of care, housing and services people may need when they live a long life. Students are provided the information and training needed to offer guidance to families on a range of issues including home care, assisted living, nursing homes, social services, taxes, law and most important, what will pay for these resources.

Our goal is not to teach students how to sell products but rather how to help solve a client's long-term care needs.

The CLTC program is third party - we are not affiliated with or funded by any insurance company. Our concern is for our graduates. We want them to have the confidence and competence to work effectively with their clients.

Please take a moment to review our course outline and the requirements to obtain the CLTC designation. If you are looking for a long-term care insurance professional please visit our graduates listings.

Thank you for your interest.

Harley Gordon, President
